i dropped my phone yesterday while birthday shopping for tim, and the screen is all blue and i can't access any of my functions, like text messaging or my contact list. i ran straight for the store where i bought it, to ask them if it could be fixed and to buy a new phone otherwise. which is when it got interesting.
because it's an AT&T phone, and AT&T no longer exists, Cingular refuses to help me. they can't fix my phone, and they won't let me get a new one unless my entire family upgrades our share plan to cingular, and buys THE EXACT SAME PHONES OVER AGAIN. because even though they're the same phones, AT&T sold them to us, and Cingular won't put their own plan on AT&T phones. and they won't sell me a new phone, because they won't put AT&T plans on their cingular phones. because apparently, if this happens, the phones will detonate and destroy the planet and the space/time continuum will shred and little baby kittens will be sacrificed to satan. telling people that nothing will change when the company merges is dishonest and misleading, and really really wrong.
so i went to the mall again today, to look at the t mobile kiosk. because hell if i'm staying with cingular. it was full of stupid young guys wearing ties and talking like frat boys. who, after running my credit check, told me that i'd have to put down a $500 deposit. ok i know my credit history is all wonky from being young, dumb, and in college once upon a time, but $500 seems a bit excessive. in order for me to get a phone, it ended up working out to my father getting service in his name, for which i will pay. it gets me a phone that i desperately need (what with the hour-long commute each way and the tendency of my car to DIE with no advance notice), but it does absolutely nothing to help my credit.
party at my brother's last night...i got there late, didn't drink much (sick AGAIN), and then ward decided to punch the recycling can. the top part, where all the glass was. smashed a bunch of bottles and proceeded to bleed everywhere. was finally taken into the bathroom and given a towel and compressed and whatnot. and all the time we're trying to take care of him, drunk boys kept coming in to tell him how awesome that was. this culminated in my 2:00 run to the local quick chek, buying peroxide, neosporin, gauze, and bandaids. coming back to clean and bandage his (extremely gross and bloody) hand. he went for stitches today, and it turns out he nicked his tendon, and will need extra medical whatsis from a plastic surgeon. ask me if he stopped drinking last night. guess who had to clean up the blood. yup.
tonight i'm staying home, taking nyquil and reading rilke.
that almost sounds goth and pretentious. it's not meant to be...
