job hunting

does anyone else out there think that it is an egregious oversight that someone with my obvious talents is unable to find work that actually uses any of them? or pays me a living wage, either is fine. currently, i make nine dollars. an hour. which, as qui says, will let me treat myself to a twinkie every couple months or so.

i have three quarters of an english degree. which is a year beyond an associate's, in technical fact. but it doesn't count as such, because it was earned at a four-year college. you don't get a certificate at the midway point. and since i can't afford at the moment to go back, well, there you are. one hundred credits of schooling count for nothing if i can't get the other twenty and the certificate.

so i'm looking around monster.com at all these jobs i'd be so good at. slightly less menial than the job i currently inhabit. copywriters, proofreaders. editors' assistants. i have to tell you, i'm feeling pretty despondent right now.

now would be a good time, all you people who read this and work in real jobs (preferably jobs that would hire someone like me), to step up and offer assistance. or encouragement. or a good kick in the pants. or my college tuition.

because i'm about ready to go camp out on the steps of holloway hall until they agree to take me back and help me pay for it. the only people who ever answered my letter were the financial aid office. who told me to call and they'd be happy to answer my questions. but i don't even know what my questions are.

maybe i should start a "give me money" website. "pay beatpoetgrrl's college tuition" doesn't sound like such a bad idea, now does it?
