getting back on track

signed, sealed, and in the mail are three copies of this letter. one to the registrar, one to the office of student affairs, and one to the office of financial aid. it's not much, but it's a start. let's hope they bring some kind of result. hopefully some luck. it's not something i like to brag about, but it is the truth.

To Whom It May Concern:

In 2000, I left Salisbury University after struggling for several semesters with clinical depression, which resulted in academic difficulty. I did not intend to stay away for more than a semester or at most a year. However, life and finances intervened and I was unable to complete my last 20 or so credits and receive my degree.

In the time I have been gone, I feel that I have made great strides in both health and maturity. I currently work as a preschool teacher, and independently study many topics contained within my major, as well as continuing my own writing. I have many plans for my future, but I cannot attain most without a college degree. I will be twenty-six this year, and recognize that each year it will become more difficult to return.

I would very much like to come back, but I recognize that I am facing several difficulties. One is the process of re-admittance, another financial difficulties. My record for the last few semesters of my academic career presents issues with my likelihood as a good candidate both academically and financially.

During my difficulties, I sought the help of student counseling services and my family physician, both of whom would I’m sure be happy to provide documentation. Despite my efforts, I was unable to perform at the high academic level of which I know I am capable. I hope that there may be a possibility of academic clemency, for outstanding circumstances of mental illness.

I am unsure of how I am to proceed in getting back to the path I meant to take. Any advice on whom to contact, which forms to find, and any other related subject would be met with extreme gratitude. Thank you very much for your time.

Sincerely,

maybe i'll be ok. --beatpoetgrrl
