whole lot of nothin
middle niece #2 drew me a picture of a wolf today. it's a nice wolf that spreads chocolate hearts to everyone. oh lord how i love listening to children talk. they're so wonderfully creative because the world hasn't shut them down yet. they're already scientists, artists, and dreamers; most great artists never lose that childlike quality.
i start the new job on the 2nd. i'm excited for the most part. it'll be a good thing to get out of the house on a daily basis, and every day i'll get to listen to kids talk about what's going on in their heads. i'm not entirely confident about spending almost nine hours a day taking care of little people who depend on me. it's a long day, and a big responsibility. they put me in charge of small children. how frightening is that?
but it's almost new year's eve, my favorite holiday. our new year's eve parties are semi-legendary; we talk about them for the rest of the year, and people who weren't there talk about them too. the tradition started at the end of 1997, and except for minor cast changes it's been the same since. where ever i am, i make sure i come home for the new year's party. we congregate at ali's house, the music starts, the drinks start around 10, and since '99 we have a theme song cued up to start after the countdown. i'm rooting for "changes." meaningful, but with a good dance beat.
the jezebel kitty is in heat, and yowling through the house. the luna kitty keeps chasing her, and much growling and spitting is involved. and let me tell you, it's a pleasant thing to wake up to, a cat fight under your bed. i'm glad this only happens once every few months. spaying is a really, really good idea. i highly advocate it, not only for the prevention of homeless kittens, but for the avoidance of heat-related annoyances.
well, this entry is sheer filler. -beatpoetgrrl
