an upside down world
how do you make sense of all this? the deaths of innocents? of innocence? the deaths become a number that is no longer a number...how do you understand deaths that number in the thousands? that take refridgerator trucks to haul the corpses? even my high school was less than 2000 people large...
how do you know something has utterly shredded the fabric of your world? from the way life splits cleanly in two; the time before and the time after. time will be measured this way. stories will start in relation to this event. like pearl harbor. like kennedy.
and retaliation? to kill their innocents because they killed ours? what does that accomplish. blood begets blood begets blood, and no one knows where it will end. and do we 'deserve' this? should we have 'expected' this? because the united states government supports israel, or because it butts in where it shouldn't? the fact of terrorism is that it doesn't make sense. that it is inherently unjustifiable.
and the enemy is without a face. maybe it's the taliban. afghanistan. a militia. who knows? what worries me is the retaliation against all people of muslim faith, which is tantamount to punishing all christians because some crazy people blow up a clinic. and with an invisible enemy, who is there to fight?
